PINKY PROMISE

Synopsis

After witnessing the pain of her younger 11-year-old sister for six years straight after she was diagnosed with 4 chronic diseases, the situation got to a point that drove Hala to no longer be a silent observer and act. She plans for 20 days straight a surprise party which she believes is going to reshape the negative perspective her sister has on life in a way to not let her give up on herself. For this to serve as a memory to Aya when she grows up, Hala documents this process into a film. The day of the filming arrives and Aya’s health deteriorates. Hala is torn between choosing to be the sister or the filmmaker. Aya manages to reach the third day of shoot with her sister despite how sick she was, only to get surprised that no one is coming to the surprise party. It was all a setup to get her married to herself. Hala was anticipating her separation from her sister and wanted to make sure her sister will be responsible for taking care of herself before Hala leaves. The funny thing is that, a few months later, Hala meets her soulmate and gets married. The sisters separate. The roles reverse. Hala’s life entirely changes, from being the wise sister who takes care of everyone around her, with everything always figured out, she gets temporarily diagnosed with depression and anxiety because her new life is disabling her from editing the film they shot together. She now goes to 11 year younger sister Aya for advice. Did Aya’s perspective on life change after a year? What happened with Hala?

A feature docu-fiction in the phase of post-production.
